Job description

P+S Personnel are pleased to be working on behalf of our clients, who are currently seeking a Test Engineer to join their team based in Norwich on a full-time, permanent basis.

The Test Engineer will be responsible for testing a range of products and equipment to ensure it meets the engineering build standards and tolerances are within specification. The ability to test and diagnose faults on electro-mechanical systems is required to ensure the equipment is manufactured to the highest industry standards.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Working as part of the Test Team but also required to work and communicate with other departments during production such as Mechanical Fitters, Test Engineers and Engineering.
  • Working in a modern manufacturing facility.
  • Pressurised role working to tight time schedules test complex electronic and electro-mechanical systems.
  • Fault finding and where necessary, recommend any corrective actions required.
  • Responsible for raising MRBs and closing down test operations on the company’s ERP system.
  • Receive work instructions from your Team Leader and ensure your time is booked to the correct cost code using the company’s ERP system.
  • Responsible for conducting customer witness factory acceptance tests (FATs) in a professional manner.

Qualifications:

  • Ideally completed a recognised apprenticeship in electronics or electro-mechanical engineering.
  • Must be educated to a minimum of NVQ / City & Guilds level 3 in a relevant discipline.
  • Must have had experience in a similar role.

Person Specification:

  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, wiring schedules and circuit diagrams.
  • Proficient in soldering, crimping, lacing and splicing.
  • Competent in the use of electronic test equipment and able to follow complex test specifications.
  • Proficient in fault finding and ability to diagnose in a methodical method involving others when necessary.
  • Familiarity with a variety of Mil Spec Connectors, Cable Ident and Cable production techniques.
  • ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) awareness.
  • Assembly and testing/repair of PCBs
  • Report writing and email communications.
  • Must be a good team player with the ability to work using own initiative when required.
  • Must have the aptitude to produce workmanship to the highest industry standards.
  • Must work in a safe and orderly manner to ensure all company H&S standards are adhered to.
  • Must work at an acceptable pace to meet deadlines, without sacrificing H&S & Quality standards.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work unsupervised when required.
  • Must be willing to train or be trained by others when required.
