P+S Charity Golf Day is BACK! ⛳🏌️♂️
The eagerly awaited P+S Golf Day is back! September 6th 2024 at Sprowston Manor.
For those that have been before, you know you are in for the best golf day of the year, as written by “Time” magazine!!
For those that are new to the P+S Golf Day, be prepared to be wowed! It will comprise of laughter, tears, fun, bandits, comedians, hustlers, ladies armed with chip and pin devices to extract cash, raffles, auctions, beers, food, trophies and much, much, more!
Our Dad, Kenny, lost his battle with Mantel Cell Lymphoma in April 2023. Dad was battling Prostate Cancer and had the added issue of Lymphoma surrounding the prostrate. It was slow growing and he was told that he would die with the prostate cancer and not of it. The Lymphoma was always the worry, it can lay dormant for many years and suddenly change to an aggressive form and spread to all organs quickly, leaving life expectancy to only a few months.
At Christmas 2022 our dad went on his dream holiday to Singapore, Kula Lumpa, Phuket and Koi Samui. Unfortunately, he fell sick whilst there and had a long, daunting flight back to the UK being looked after by the wonderful cabin crew. He was admitted to the N&N where he spent two weeks trying to recover.
January 2023 was unfortunately the start of the inevitable Lymphoma changing its course.
After many trips back and forth to the specialist and the introduction of Chemotherapy to try and slow the Lymphoma, in March we got the gut-wrenching news to say that no more could be done. Having to face our dad shortly after that was the worst moment of our lives! Our dad, our Hero, was told that he only had days to live.
For those of you that knew our dad, would know that he had way more life in him and never ever wanted to accept death, but he did.
On 5th March 2023 dad held court with the whole family, he asked for them all to come to his bedside as he wanted to speak with them all individually. That incredible night, over 25 members of the family turned up and “Pops” held court!
Once done, he turned to us his children, smiled and said I’m done.
On April 6th our dad slipped away.
September 6th 2024 is the day we all come to celebrate this man but also to raise money for the unbelievable care our dad received from the Mulbarton Ward at the N&N.
This ward looks after many that are in the later stages of their life, but is also there for the family, who are also facing loss. The care and support they gave us was just exemplary, our dad was looked after by true “Angels”.
We are asking now for us all to come together to help these wonderful people help others the way they looked after our dad. Cancer now affects 1 in 2 of us and we, or our families, could all need their love, care and support in the future. It is a vital service to have support during end-of-life care.
The charity is ring fenced to this ward alone, the money will go to the development of more private rooms and facilities for families to be able to spend their last moments with their loved ones in a private and calm environment. You will also have the pleasure of meeting some of the Angels that took such good care of our pops!
